For 20 years Byron served as a missionary with Campus Outreach. His roles included campus staff, campus director, area director, and regional director. He is now the Founder and Executive Director of VISION 9:38, which focuses on empowering and equipping minority missionaries. Byron received his Master’s of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) and is married to Kim and they have five children (Kelsey, James Byron II, Kaitlyn, Jordan, and Jonathan).
